Employer Posting Policy

Employer Posting Policy

Clear opportunities. Honest expectations. Respect for families.

Homeschoolworks exists to connect homeschool families with legitimate, transparent work. Every listing must clearly explain the role, compensation, schedule, expectations, and nature of the opportunity.

By submitting a listing, employers agree to follow this policy and the Homeschoolworks Terms of Use.

Every listing must be clear and truthful.

Employers are responsible for making each listing accurate, complete, and understandable before it is submitted.

  • Use an accurate job title.
  • Clearly identify the employer or organization.
  • Provide a complete description of responsibilities.
  • State required qualifications honestly.
  • Describe the actual Work Arrangement.
  • State the expected Weekly Hours.
  • Explain the Schedule Structure.
  • Clearly disclose compensation.
  • Identify any Required Availability.
  • Disclose Travel Requirement details.
  • Provide an accurate Application Deadline when one is used.
  • Avoid misleading, exaggerated, or incomplete claims.

Compensation must be specific.

Homeschoolworks requires a clear rate, range, project fee, salary range, or commission structure. The Compensation Type and Compensation Details fields should help families understand what the opportunity actually pays before they apply.

Acceptable examples

  • $20-$25 per hour
  • $45,000-$55,000 annually
  • $1,500 fixed project fee
  • 10% commission on collected sales, paid monthly

Unacceptable examples

  • Competitive
  • DOE
  • Based on experience
  • Contact us for details
  • Unlimited earning potential
  • Compensation discussed after application

“DOE” or experience-based pay may be mentioned only when an actual range, rate, or clear structure is also provided.

Commission must be explained completely.

Commission-based opportunities must be specific enough for families to understand how income is earned and what risk or uncertainty may be involved. Commission-only listings must be prominently identified.

  • Whether the role is commission-only or includes base pay.
  • How commission is calculated.
  • When commission is earned.
  • When it is paid.
  • Whether leads are provided.
  • Whether expenses are reimbursed.
  • Whether quotas or minimum sales requirements apply.

Unpaid roles must be unmistakable.

Unpaid or volunteer opportunities are allowed only when the listing is transparent from the beginning. They must never be presented as ordinary paid employment.

  • They are clearly labeled as unpaid or volunteer.
  • The description does not imply wages or future guaranteed employment.
  • The employer does not charge the applicant to participate.
  • The listing accurately describes the time commitment and duties.
  • Any ministry, nonprofit, internship, or service context is explained honestly.

Mission-driven does not mean unclear.

Ministry, church, missionary, and nonprofit listings are welcome on Homeschoolworks, but mission-driven language does not replace practical disclosure. Spiritual language must not be used to obscure employment terms.

  • Paid, unpaid, volunteer, stipend, support-raised, or commission status.
  • Schedule expectations.
  • Travel requirements.
  • Fundraising requirements.
  • Housing or benefits, if applicable.
  • Whether the role requires raising personal financial support.

Business opportunities require full disclosure.

Listings involving direct sales, independent distributorships, franchises, affiliate programs, recruiting-based compensation, multilevel marketing, or personal business ownership must clearly disclose the nature of the opportunity.

  • That the listing is a business opportunity rather than employment.
  • Any startup, inventory, training, subscription, or membership costs.
  • Whether income depends on recruiting others.
  • Typical compensation structure.
  • Whether the applicant is classified as an independent contractor.

Homeschoolworks does not accept business-opportunity listings that hide required purchases or fees, promise unrealistic earnings, focus primarily on recruiting, misrepresent a business opportunity as a salaried job, or require payment merely to apply.

Describe the schedule families will actually experience.

Employers do not have to offer complete flexibility, but they must describe limits honestly. Use the Schedule Structure, Weekly Hours, Primary Time Zone, Required Availability, Travel Requirement, and Homeschool-Friendly Statement fields to set clear expectations.

  • Whether hours are flexible, mostly flexible, set, shift-based, deadline-based, or seasonal.
  • Required meeting times.
  • Primary Time Zone expectations.
  • Required daytime availability.
  • Weekend or evening expectations.
  • Travel expectations.
  • Whether the role can realistically be completed around homeschooling responsibilities.

Use the correct relationship.

Employers must accurately identify the Employment Type and the real working relationship. Employers are responsible for lawful classification, payroll, taxes, insurance, wages, and compliance with applicable laws. Homeschoolworks does not provide legal advice.

  • Full-time employment.
  • Part-time employment.
  • Temporary employment.
  • Seasonal employment.
  • Internship.
  • Independent contract work.
  • Freelance or project-based work.
  • Volunteer service.

  • Mandatory recruiting fees.
  • Undisclosed training fees.
  • Required purchases merely to be considered.

Legitimate professional licensing, background-check, equipment, or certification requirements may be included only when they are lawful, reasonable, and disclosed clearly before application.

Treat applicants with dignity.

  • Follow applicable nondiscrimination laws.
  • Avoid invasive or irrelevant personal questions.
  • Communicate respectfully.

  • Request clarification.
  • Edit formatting or obvious errors.
  • Require additional disclosure.

Before you post

Make sure your listing clearly explains what the work is, what it pays, when it must be completed, and what the worker should expect. Transparency protects families and helps good employers attract the right people.
